Beautiful Bowls

These bowls are the beautiful creations of two of these ladies from church- Teresa, and Silesay. More ladies from church have made bowls too, but they did not come to the ladies Bible study this week...however three guests did!! And two of the guests accepted Christ!!! WOW Isn't that marvelous!! They both live very close to the church plot, and one of them is a woman I visited when the team was here a few weeks ago. Praise God for His goodness!!! The ladies who accepted Jesus are the ones holding children- Mrs. Moses on the left and Mrs. Joseph on the right (photo below.)
These bowls are part of a project the ladies started last week. They have come up with the idea and the supplies completely on their own (with the help of the Holy Spirit, as they will tell you.) They are using grass that has been wet down and wrapping strips of plastic bag tightly around the grass and then weaving them into bowls. At first I thought they would be trivets but that is only the base of the bowl. They add on one layer at a time until the bowl is complete. We are all praying that these bowls will provide a way for these women to help support their families in a way that honors God. Please pray they will have many buyers from the local market for their bowls!!! Please also pray God will be honored as they use their hands to support their families.

Stylin' in Sesheke

This is what Madylanne dressed herself in for church Sunday morning (minus the slippers...I made her put her sandals on before we walked 30 mins to the church plot). She was so happy! And I was happy too...she can wear whatever she wants here and no one cares a whit. :) I love you Madylanne!

Peas in a Pod

These days Matthew wants to do whatever Madylanne is doing. So if she is washing chalk marks off the house that is what he wants to do too. And if she is reading a book, he's willing to look at the pictures with her (before squirming off the chair to look for a snack.)

Look what's happening at Baptist Mission of Sesheke!

WOW! The church is really getting excited about their storage structure that is well under way. This will store benches and mats and maybe even be a house for Pastor Given once he is finished with school. They will begin adding mud to the walls soon and a front door. Please pray for them as they face issues like getting a water line at the church plot and also make decisions about how to help raise money to construct their church building. The ladies have decided they want to sell scones in the market to help. The church is growing, praise the Lord! Pastor Given is the one in the black suit.

Happy Father's Day Mark!

Madylanne and Matthew sure do love their Daddy! And I love him too!! Happy Father's Day, Mark!

Welcome baby Esther

This is Rebekah, back from her move to Namibia. As you may or may not remember from many posts ago, Rebekah came to know the Lord and then basically disappeared. We tried to keep in touch with her but she moved to Namibia. Now she is back in Sesheke with her 6 week old baby, a beautiful daughter named Esther. We went to visit her last week and were able to share the Gospel with Rebekah's family and even a cousin of Teresa's! We prayed over this precious child, that she would grow up in a home that is filled with her Mama's love and the love of the Lord, so that she too will come to know Jesus as her Savior. They came to church Sunday, which we are really excited about. Please pray for Rebekah and Esther, and their extended family. In the picture Rebekah is holding Matthew and Teresa is holding baby Esther.

We love you Tabernacle Baptist Church!

A group of 8 volunteers from Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia came to Sesheke from May 31st-June 8th and we praise God for you guys! This is their 4th year in a row to come. We loved every minute with you! Thank you for your partnership spreading the Gospel all over Sesheke, especially the area around the church plot. They walked and walked and walked and many many people came to Christ. We pray you make it back to Cartersville safely!! (They had an adventure getting here...they got stuck in Johannesberg for an unexpected overnight stay because they didn't have yellow fever shots, which are, under normal circumstances, not needed. However on the day they flew in I guess they were needed. So they got their yellow fever shot in the clinic in the airport but still had to wait till the next day for the next flight to Zambia. We love you guys for going the extra mile and getting an additional shot just to come share Jesus in Sesheke!!! AND we pray you make it back HEALTHY....3 out of 4 Wints got a bad tummy bug and shared it with one team member, and almost another one...praying you all make it home in good shape!!)

True Love Waits

While here in Sesheke the volunteer team from Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA presented True Love Waits in the high school to grade 11 and 12 students. This was the first time to do this kind of ministry here. The presentation included information on HIV/AIDS and gave team members the opportunity to share how through having a relationship with Jesus Christ He can help us wait until marriage to have sex and stay faithful in marriage to our spouses.
Pastor Given was permitted to speak to his classmates as well and boldy share his commitment to Jesus as well as to abstinence until marriage.

Happy 5th Birthday Madylanne!

On the 4th Madylanne celebrated her 5th birthday. She woke up to discover a brand new bike waiting for her in the living room and couldn't wait to ride it! We thank God for our sweet Madylanne and can't believe she is 5 already. How did this happen so fast??
She got spoiled a bit by having the volunteer team from GA here to help her celebrate too...thanks for your love, Tabernacle Baptist Church!!

I love spaghetti!

Look at Matthew's beaming and spaghetti covered face!! He LOVES feeding himself just as much as he loves spaghetti. :)

Picnic by the river

While Mark and team leader Jeff Lowe were in Shongambo encouraging and teaching pastors, his wife Robyn and their kids stayed with us here at our place in Sesheke. We had lots of fun together and one day decided to have a picnic by the river.
