Bible lessons

Mark is currently teaching lessons from the Bible College curriculum used in Zambia at Kisima. Pastor Mike and Laurien are taking it all in, as well as the current client who is in rehabilitation for alcoholism. This is the third week L (not pictured) has been at Kisima. He is alcohol free, praise God!! And he has decided to commit his life to Christ and wants to be baptized. WOW we are praising God for His goodness! Please pray for L as he begins this journey with Jesus and continues on the road of sobriety. Ask the Lord to help him daily choose to deny himself and trust Jesus to help him. Ask the Lord to help L make permanent changes that will support his new life in Christ.

Thank You, God, for Esther

You've seen pictures of Esther on our blog in the past...she is a faithful follower of Jesus who helps with Vacation Bible School...She teaches Sunday School... She loves to tell people about Jesus and loves on her family, sharing Jesus with them in so many ways. You saw photos of her nephew Omari being baptized in the ocean. And she loves on us, too!
This photo is an example of her sweet spirit as she serves. See her smile?
We thank God she helps us part time. She helps a lot with laundry, which is an arduous two to three hour a day task. She irons all the laundry...sheets, towels, socks, undies, etc. to kill any mango fly eggs that have been laid on the clothes that come off the line. We have learned the hard way that this is a necessary chore.
We thank God for Esther and her sweet servant heart!!
Lord please bless Esther and her family...and may they continue to say yes to following Jesus as they watch her humble example of Godliness and joy.

Online

School! This is what school looks like for Madylanne right now.
You can see her tea right beside her...the African way of drinking it...with milk and sugar.
It's yummy! And great fuel for 10th grade. I promise she gets food, too. :)
We are really grateful the internet has been working. Please pray it will continue to work since her program is completely online. Thank you!

ouch

Last year Micah stayed in our local hospital in May for a serious gut infection. This year it's Madylanne who got to stay in the hospital for 5 days for a severe skin infection caused by a nasty critter that loves mangos as much as we do, the mango fly. When the rains begin the flies come out in droves and lay their eggs on damp stuff....pets, hanging laundry, etc. Then the eggs hatch and you can see what happened.
It was a long 5 days. We are incredibly grateful for how God took care of Madylanne. There was a great surgeon, kind nurses, 4 kinds of antibiotics, air conditioning and tv, not to mention a host of friends who came by to let her know they care.
We thank God for His provision!
And thank you for giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering
because this is how you help support us.

check mate

After Madylanne was discharged from the hospital she was so happy to be home she did all her fav things with her brothers...playing chess with Matthew, who is a worthy opponent...

and face painting

and pancake making (mmm! Thanks, Madylanne!)

Tattoos??

We had fun with friends a few weeks ago...we invited ourselves along for a henna session. Henna is a natural dye that can be tattooed and then fades within a few weeks. Matthew watched from the porch swing while the rest of us chose designs.

In process

Finished and showing off :)

Micah

Micah was awarded a certificate for being "resilient" at school recently and boy did it make his day! He has worked so hard and has such a great attitude. We are really proud of him!

It's such a sweet blessing to see him picking up a book to read for pleasure! This is a book that was hard for him to read in chunks a year ago...and now he read the whole thing in one setting.
Because he wants to. Wow...thank You, God.

His new thing these days is archery. He loves to practice in the yard with Mark. He's getting to be a pretty good shot! We may have to start calling him Robin Hood. :)
